I paint the wild. And I teach others to see it.
I'm Ezhil, a wildlife artist, nature educator, and lifelong student of the natural world, based in Chennai, India.
For over 30 years, I've been drawing, painting, and observing nature, not just as an artistic practice, but as a way of understanding the world around me. My art blends scientific accuracy with creative expression, because I believe that when you truly see a bird's feathers or a big cat's gaze, you paint it differently.
Every piece I create is rooted in that connection, to the species, the habitat, the moment.
My Art Journey
My art journey has been a rollercoaster, full of colour, uncertainty, and some of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
It started with a deep love for India's wildlife. The leopards, the peacocks, the Himalayan Monal, the quiet dignity of a lotus in still water. I found myself returning to these subjects again and again, each time looking closer, learning more.
Over time, that personal practice grew into something larger. I began teaching, first in workshops, then online, because I wanted others to feel what I feel when a painting starts to breathe. That spark is something I've now been lucky enough to share with over 3,000 art learners across India and beyond.
What Drives me
I'm not just an artist. I'm a nature advocate.
Through my work, I want to build a community of people who see the natural world, really see it, and are moved to protect it. Art has a quiet power to do that. A well-painted tiger can make someone care about tigers in a way that facts alone cannot.
That's the thread running through everything I do: art as a bridge between humans and the wild.
Ekam Kreative Akademi
I founded Ekam Kreative Akademi, my learning community, where I have been teaching since 2005, for anyone who wants to learn wildlife and nature art from scratch.
Whether you're a complete beginner picking up a pencil for the first time, or an experienced artist looking to find your own style, Ekam is built for you. We have live cohort-based courses, self-paced programmes, webinars, and a community of artists who encourage each other every step of the way.
The name Ekam means one, one community, one creative journey, one step at a time.
